TIRED OF SETTING RESOLUTIONS AND GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR? TRY SETTING POSITIVE INTENTIONS FOR 2017 INSTEAD OF RESOLUTIONS OR GOALS

Published December 30th, 2016 by Craig Kaler

Intention shouldn’t be confused with a goal. It’s not something you attach an expectation or evaluation to. Intention is something you want to align yourself with throughout your day, week, year, or life. Its something you want to commit to and has purpose.

Intentions must come from your heart and are not the tangible. It’s not you wanting to lose 20 pounds or make acquiring a new position at work.  Your heart and innate wisdom drive intentions. They should evoke a feeling and purpose.

Intention is the starting point for everything. When I decide to get out of bed at 5:00AM and train, write this, eat healthy, or even schedule a vacation I have a specific intent with all of those. It is your own creativity and will that fulfill all of your needs. Everything that happens in the universe begins with intention.  Intention is much more powerful when it comes from a place of gratitude than if it arises from a sense need. Don’t let anyone influence you with doubts or criticisms. Keep it to yourself.

Intend for everything to work out as it should, then let go and allow opportunities and openings to come your way. Wayne Dyer said, “Our intention creates our reality.”

Let the universe handle the details. Your intention sets the organizing power of the universe in motion. It is up to you to trust the organizing power of the universe to take care of it all. Try and detach yourself from outcome.  Think about how many times in your life you thought “things did not go my way today”, then you realize one-day years later that it made you the person, parent, or teacher you are today. All of you have examples of this in your life. Try practicing a “no-resistance” mentality.

Some examples of intentions for the upcoming New Year

1. Practicing patience.

2. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable.

3. Practicing a healthy lifestyle in all facets.

4. Spending the highest quality time possible with your children.

5. Not only be accepting of change, but embracing it.

Wishing you all the best in health and happiness in the upcoming New Year,

Dr. K
